A few posts back I had a picture of a yarn that I kool-aid dyed. Turned out that I didn't have enough for my kicking sack so I had to dye another skein. I wanted a nice red along the bottom of the sack and like how it turned out. There is no pattern or tutorial for this because I kind of made it up as I went but I think that it is going to work fairly well and I am in love with how the colors turned out.

Knitting Dipes
You have probably been curious as to what I have been doing with all of my pregnant spare time lately. Do you wanna know??
I have been practicing my knitting.
Yup, knitting. Sitting watching entire seasons of TV show's and movies (the latest has been all 7 seasons of Monk) with the click clack of needles.
I have been knitting diaper 'soakers'. Technically soakers are made out of wool. They work as cloth diaper covers instead of PUL or vinyl pants. Lanolized wool has a self cleaning property meaning that you only have to handwash them about once a month unless they are poopy. They also breathe better for those babies that are prone to diaper rash. Not to mention they are completely adorable!
I knit my first three soakers out of acrylic because I wanted to practice and get the patterns down before I splurged on wool. The acrylic soakers won't last as long because I will end up washing them more, about as much as the PUL covers. The nice thing about acrylic soakers is that they don't need hand washing.
For the first yellow one I used the Super Soaker pattern found here http://www.spudandchloe.com/patterns/super-soakers/
Then for the purple and yellow ones I used the Plain Wrap pattern found here http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/whw-plain-wrap
I just bought some plain Peruvian Highland Wool and dyed it with Kool-Aid using this crockpot method (http://www.leethal.net/zine/?p=764). I can't wait to knit it into something. Right now I am either considering a kicking bag (only if I have enough yarn) or another diaper cover. Can't decide but I will sure post it when done. Now I need to go decide which one to start!

Forgive the sloppy wound ball of yarn, it is my first time winding a ball. |

Knit as a Cube
I have been working on a project for a while now. Since I found out I was pregnant to be precise. It started as something else but like all good projects, it evolved.
At the time I needed some simple knitting to work on, something that I could do a row or two and just stuff in my bag. So I started knitting 10x10 blocks. Just random patterns, or no pattern at all. I just needed something to keep my hands busy. As I worked, I decided to turn it into a toy for my baby.
It turned into this; a squishy, pillow, cube toy. Yes, it is a little misshapen, but that is okay, makes it fun to throw at misbehaving husbands.
Live and Love!
Instructions:
Knit 6 -10x10 blocks, and then sew together in a cube.
Before sewing the last side together, keep 2 inches open to stuff it with and then close.
Easy peasy.

Knitted Beret
Here is my knitted, eyelet beret. It kind of fits like a fitted hat though,
so my next one I will have to add twice or three times the slouch,
also that way it will fit over the ears if they get a bit chilly.
I think it is adorable, I also added a cute button to it.
Of course it was after I took the picture, but you get the idea!
Here are a few different ways to wear it.

A Pointy Hood
My next knitting project after the scarf but before the winter hat was a pointy hood.
I decided to do a pointy hood because of the ease.
You do it just like a scarf, fold it in half and then just sew up one side + a button and you are set.
I need to make it a little bit wider so that it covers more of the face,
I just acquired longer knitting needles so the next one will be wider.
It also keeps the ears warm but I will have to do some altering to make it keep the forehead warm
too and maybe hook a scarf onto it to wrap around the cheeks,
but anyways here is the Pointy Hood. Let me know what you think!

Knitted Hat W/Matching Scarf
For a few weeks this summer after the wedding, I went on a knitting frenzy.
I finished knitting a scarf, It was just knit -flip-knit-flip the rows until I deemed it long enough.
I also wanted a matching hat to go with it so thanks to my Grandmother-in-Law
I acquired a knit 2-purl 2 pattern for a winter hat. Here are the finished products.
The scarf measures about 3 feet long and the hat is approx 12 inches in length and
quite stretchy to fit numerous sizes of heads.
The yarn is just a royal blue acrylic yarn that I got in a pound skein.

A Yellow Neckwarmer
So I taught myself to knit and finished my very first knitting project, I had bought this really soft pretty yellow yarn at a thrift store for 99 cents and I wanted to do something with it. My first project was going to be a scarf but I didn't have enough yarn so I just finished it off as a neck warmer and here it is. I plan on starting something new soon, or maybe finishing my quilt that I have been planning to do all summer. Maybe I should finish the quilt.........
