Sherpa Wrap and my Prewashing

So this post is kind of a hodgepodge. I am starting to work on my Christmas Gifts so I won't be posting for a little while... Or I might get sick of those gifts and do something totally different, in which case I will post :) We will see. But telling myself not to post will make me more likely to get the Gifts done, because I don't want to be giving any sneak previews.

Anyways, LAST Christmas my oldest sister gave me a kit for a sherpa wrap/scarf/hat/throw. I haven't had time to sew it up, and then summer came and I really didn't want to do it in 100 degree weather. So now that fall is on its way I dug it out. I couldn't decide what to do with it so I decided to do the wrap. It is still all in one big piece so if I change my mind later I can do the scarf and hat. It also makes for a GREAT throw blanket on the couch because it is so cuddly and warm. It being a wrap will make it great come winter too.

Oh and this last picture, this is what happens when you have to pay for laundry, but you really really need to prewash fabric. You really don't want to wash a load of whites with a big piece of freshly dyed blue fabric. Unless you want everything to be a nice light blue - in which case then go right ahead and stick it in the washer.

We live in an apartment, so no clothes line. All I have is our laundry rack, shower curtain rod, and towel hanger. So I prewashed my 9 yards of fabric in the sink, and hung them up to dry. And boy did my husband think that I was nuts :)

My Waspie-Corset Thing.

So I finally finished my Waspie-Corset thing. The pattern book said that the pattern that I was making is called a Waspie and since nobody knows what a Waspie is, I am calling it my waspie-corset thing. Because a waspie is a form of corset. Anyways, I have been working on it for a month-on and off. Also, I decided that it is reversible, and since I designed and made it, I have every right to declare it reversible. It fits nicely, but I need to figure out exactly what to wear it with so I don't look like I have monstro hips. Which is what it gives me because, well its a corset. It is supposed to give me that "hourglass" figure, which I don't really have. My figure is more like a rectangle, edging towards being slightly pear shaped. And I am perfectly okay with that! I love my body, as long as I treat it right, it will do the same to me (well, usually) :)

Anyways I know you are itching to see the pictures.
So here you go. Enjoy.

My Husbands Tool Belt

So my dear dear husband had been pestering me for a
couple of months now to make him a tool belt.
I kept putting it off because I didn't really know where to start.
But finally I got up the nerve to just sit down and do it.
Mind you I didn't do any sketching or anything.
I just took my jean scraps, thought about the tools that he uses and just kinda
started sewing the pieces together.
I would say it turned out pretty darn good if you ask me.

Things that I love......

Alrighty then, seeing as it is September and for the first time in about 14 years I am not starting school of some type I did a little research, Read this little article about happiness and smoking (and by no means am I telling people to smoke!!! I find it disgusting.) But it will give you just a little bit of insight. (Click the purple letters to get to the article)

And now here are a list of things that I love (these are in no particular order)
  1. Jesus
  2. My Husband
  3. Sitting by the window on a warm breezy day reading a book.
  4. Thunderstorms with lots of lightning and thunder
  5. Cooking and Baking
  6. After you play guitar for a few days and your fingers get all callused up, so that you can play for a longer period of time without your finger tips feeling raw.
  7. "I Love Lucy" and "MASH" talk about good ole comedy to brighten up your day
  8. Soda - There is nothing like living on a budget that makes you not want to waste money on soda, but on the occasion that you buy a treat, half a sprite mixed up with some fruit juice. Oh so good.
  9. Living on a budget- it makes me take joy in the simple things, like patching up an old quilt. And knowing that in about 5 years all of our college loans will be paid off and we will be able to save for better things. It also makes me feel savvy and smart when we get to the end of a month, and everything balanced out. Ok, so maybe thats not EVERY month but things happen.
  10. Fresh Fruit and Vegetables- thanks to my mother-in-law we have an abundance of veggies and apples that are just super super delicious, also some are packed away in the freezer so that we know in the winter, just gotta pull out a baggie of green beans for some deliciousness.
  11. Writing Letters
  12. The Library
  13. When my kitty Luna gets all cuddly (Usually because its 5:05 p.m. and she wants her supper, she gets fed at 5, and knows it!)
  14. Listening to the radio- I get more done, than if I had a movie or the television on and who would argue with some good music
  15. Going for long walks with my ipod, or without my ipod. Just walks in general are good.
  16. Starting a new project
  17. Finishing a project
  18. My Family
  19. Playing guitar with my husband
  20. Being able to not go onto Facebook for a few days, and not realizing it until I look at my last status. Facebook is too much of a time waster.
And that would be about it for now, sure there are lots more things that I love, but I don't want my list to get ridiculous.
